Ciel nouveau, terre nouvelle
Dans son travail de peintre, Lionel Breistroff se confronte à l’inconnu. Il rencontre à chaque étape ‘‘un ciel nouveau et une terre nouvelle’’, car sa pratique repose sur le fil ténu entre l’intuition du geste à venir et l’ouverture complète à ce qui émerge
sur la toile. Au départ il y a l’appel vers une couleur, puis à travers les différentes séances de travail, parfois sur plusieurs semaines, l’élément décisif est la qualité
de présence de l’artiste, de son regard et de son geste. Lorsque s’ébauche un univers dont la force et la richesse lui parlent, sa peinture peut prendre forme. L’intuition le guide. La perdre, c’est alourdir et perdre le tableau. La suivre, c’est se mettre au service d’une quête dont l’intensité se matérialise sur la toile.
Les 12 tableaux présentés ici font écho aux 12 portes de la Jérusalem céleste dans le sens où chacun d’entre eux, quand on prend le temps de le regarder, peut nous faire ressentir une ouverture et un cheminement intérieurs.
L’exposition fait dialoguer deux séries de peintures. L’une d’elles évoque un passage, un seuil, une rencontre avec un monde puissant de matière et de densité. L’autre série voit apparaître des formes qui semblent suspendues entre matérialité et transparence. Elles ne sont pas figées et nous invitent à les explorer. Elles peuvent évoquer des
minéraux aux multiples facettes traversées de lumière, rappelant les 12 pierres
associées à chacune des portes de la Jérusalem céleste. Mais elles suggèrent aussi
des espaces subtils qui, quand on y plonge le regard, semblent s’animer, se mouvoir,
se transformer.
Pour ce voyage sensible, Lionel Breistroff, dont le langage est fait de pigments,
a souhaité la compagnie d’une artiste des mots qu’il a invitée à présenter des Haïku, ces formes très brèves d’inspiration japonaise que le peintre affectionne, y retrouvant une efficacité poétique qui résonne avec sa peinture.

New sky, new land
In his work as a painter, Lionel Breistroff confronts the unknown. At each step, he encounters "a new heaven and a new earth", because his practice is based on the tenuous thread between the intuition of the gesture to come and the complete opening to what emerges on the canvas. At the beginning there is the call towards a color, then through the various working sessions, sometimes over several weeks, the decisive element is the quality of presence of the artist, of his view and his gesture. When a universe takes shape whose strength and richness speak to him, his painting can take shape. Intuition guides him. To lose it is to weigh down and lose the painting. To follow it is to put himself at the service of a quest whose intensity materializes on the canvas.
The 12 paintings presented here echo the 12 gates of the heavenly Jerusalem in the sense that each of them, when we take the time to look at it, can make us feel an opening and
an inner journey.
The exhibition brings together two series of paintings. One of them evokes a passage,
a threshold, an encounter with a powerful world of matter and density. The other series sees the appearance of forms that seem suspended between materiality and transparency. They are not fixed and invite us to explore them.
They can evoke minerals with multiple facets crossed by light, recalling the 12 stones associated with each of the doors of the heavenly Jerusalem. But they also suggest subtle spaces which, when one plunges the view there, seem to be animated, to move,
to transform.
For this sensitive journey, Lionel Breistroff, whose language is made of pigments, wished the company of an artist of the words that he invited to present Haïku, these very short forms of Japanese inspiration that the painter likes, finding there a poetic effectiveness which resonates with his painting.

Neuer Himmel, neues Land
In jeder kreativen Phase begegnet Lionel Breistroff "einem neuen Himmel und einer neuen Erde", denn er weiß nicht, wie sich die Dinge auf der Leinwand entwickeln werden. Seine Intuition führt den Pinsel, entscheidet über die Farbe und eröffnet einen persönlichen Dialog mit dem Werk. Erst wenn die Tiefe und Präsenz der Kreation zu ihm spricht, kann seine Malerei Gestalt annehmen.
Die 12 hier vorgestellten Werke spiegeln die 12 Tore des himmlischen Jerusalems wider. Sie laden uns auf eine innere Reise ein, wenn wir uns die Zeit nehmen sie länger
zu betrachten.
Die Ausstellung umfasst zwei Serien:
Die eine Serie symbolisiert eine Passage auf dem Weg zu einer Welt aus Materie und Dichte. In der anderen Serie schweben Formen zwischen Materialität und Transparenz.
Es kann sich um Facetten von Edelsteinen handeln, die vom Licht durchquert werden wie die 12 Steine, die mit den Toren von Jerusalem verbunden sind.
Es könnte sich aber auch um Räume handeln, die lebendig werden und sich verwandeln, wenn wir in sie hineinschauen.
Diese innere Reise aus Farben und Formen wird von sehr kurzen Gedichten japanischer Inspiration sogenannten „Haïku“ präsentiert, da diese mit seiner Malerei in besonderer Resonanz stehen.
