Lionel Breistroff’s artistic approach has always been characterised by the search for the essential. After a figurative period,

the artist turned to the elementary and archetypal forms of nature. They lead him to a semi-abstract painting in which minimalism corresponds to the artist’s inner attitude. Inner peace and a greater presence to himself allow him to gradually let go and focus his attention on the harmony between artistic intention and execution.

In his current art works emerge forms whose apparent simplicity, elegance and strengths approach us on the one hand, but elude us at the same time. Flickering and floating, they cannot be grasped, but invite us to follow their dance. We find ourselves in a timeless space where eternity is reflected in a moment. Without imposing a final view, the artwork is experienced as an encounter and leaves its mark on us.
